On 6 September 2023, this year's summer party for the Representation of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia in the European Union took place in Brussels. HUESKER Synthetic from Gescher was in attendence there.

"Münsterland. The good life" - this was the motto of this year's summer festival of the North Rhine-Westphalia State Representation in the European Union (EU) in Brussels. For one day, the region in the north-west of Westphalia presented itself in all its diversity to the German and international community in the Belgian capital, the HQ of the EU. As one of the world's leading manufacturers of geosynthetics and technical textiles, the HUESKER Group, with its headquarters in Gescher, Westphalia, also presented innovative products and technologies as part of an exhibition on the topic of "Green Tech".

A total of more than 1,200 guests from politics, business and the media came together at the event and learned about the strengths of the Münsterland region at various themed islands from the areas of tourism, business, culture and culinary delights. At the official opening of the event, NRW Minister President Hendrik Wüst addressed the guests present, before taking a tour of the exhibition area.He also spoke to many other minister presidents, district councillors, mayors and ministers, to learn more for himself at the stands of the exhibiting companies. HUESKER demonstrated to the participants the performance of technical textiles in terms of ecological advantages, especially CO2 savings, costs and efficiency. "Geotextiles make construction more sustainable than conventional solutions, because they contribute to a massive reduction in environmental pollution and conserve natural, non-renewable raw materials to a considerable extent. They are also used in the sealing of contaminated sites and landfills as well as for filtering and binding hazardous substances," explained Andreas Elsing, Head of Product Management at HUESKER Synthetic GmbH, who presented the solutions to the politicians at the event. HUESKER is also the world's first manufacturer to produce geogrids from recycled plastic bottles. In the agricultural industry, the company also offers solutions for the biogas sector and for animal-friendly husbandry of livestock and breeding animals.
